Dry, but Informative

— feeling tired
Surviving Wounded Knee: The Lakotas and the Politics of Memory - David W. Grua

Surviving Wounded Knee is ostensibly about the massacre of Native Americans at Wounded Knee in 1890, but in reality is a thorough coverage of the events surrounding the massacre since.  Grua presents an in-depth analysis of efforts to change the narrative to one more in favor of the Natives side.  And, from reading this, well it should.  While at times slow and ponderous, his arguments are persuasive and well stated.  I would recommend this volume to anyone interested in Native American history.
